Jonathan Shaw’s ‘Crash’
Fascinated by the theme of time and motion, artist Jonathan Shaw, follows in the traditions of Eadweard Muybridge (1830-1904) and Étienne-Jules Marey (1830-1904), in combining artistic vision with science and engineering to fully explore his subject.
Crash, a site-specific installation for the New Art Gallery Walsall, exhibited earlier this year, is a 60 by 3 metre long panoramic, that flowed through, and occupied the entire length of the fourth floor space of the gallery.
Photographed at the London club Crash, Shaw succeeds in creating a fully immersive visual experience, in which the viewer becomes part of the intense, turbulent, and high-energy club scene.
