Lisa Kereszi: Fun and Games
In her latest series, Fun and Games, New York based photographer Lisa Kereszi, whose work has been dubbed ‘visual poetry’ by Stephen Shore, explores her self-described ‘obsession’ with what lies hidden behind the facades of those places we frequent for entertainment, such as nightclubs, bars, amusement parks, strip clubs and museums.
In these photographs, with their rich saturated colours, we see Kereszi attracted to locations where the ‘fantasy falls short’ of expectation and she reveals a surreal reality. And in this reality, which Kereszi captures with a documentary aesthetic, we see emotion and desire, and ultimately experience a longing for something greater.
